AAI 87: Boost Your Health Esteem Inside and Out
September 03, 2024
In today’s episode of “Anti-Aging Insights,” Dr. Teri Fisher dives deep into the concept of health esteem—a blend of self-esteem and health, both physical and mental. Dr. Fisher emphasizes that health esteem is about more than just aesthetic appearances; it’s about feeling good in every area of your life and possessing a mindset that prioritizes your overall well-being.
He explains that true confidence arises from a combination of external and internal well-being. While aesthetic treatments like Botox and fillers can offer a significant boost in self-confidence, these enhancements should complement your natural beauty. Dr. Fisher advocates for thoughtful treatments that align with personal goals, resulting in natural outcomes that amplify what’s already there.
Dr. Fisher shares an insightful story of a patient whose aesthetic treatments led to increased self-confidence, ultimately transforming other aspects of her life like increased assertiveness and leadership at work. This underscores that the benefits of aesthetic treatments can extend beyond the physical, positively impacting mental health and overall quality of life.
Beyond aesthetic treatments, Dr. Fisher encourages listeners to engage in self-care activities, manage stress effectively, and connect with uplifting people. Physical activities, hobbies, and personal goals also contribute greatly to building and maintaining health esteem. Whether it’s playing a sport, engaging in creative projects, or setting and achieving personal milestones, these activities bolster your sense of accomplishment and self-worth.
In closing, Dr. Fisher reminds listeners that health esteem is an ongoing journey. It’s built through everyday choices that enhance both inner and outer confidence. He invites those interested in aesthetic treatments or needing guidance on boosting their health esteem to visit his practice for a personalized consultation.
Remember, your confidence is sculpted not only in the clinic but through your daily actions and choices. Everyone’s journey is unique, so choose what best supports your health and confidence.

Episode Transcript
Hey there, I’m Dr. Fisher, and welcome to today’s episode of the podcast. Today goes beyond just looking good. It’s about feeling good too. And I want to talk about health esteem. This is not just in the context of aesthetic medicine but in every area of life. As you may know, health esteem is one of the key concepts that I truly believe in when it comes to providing aesthetic treatments, because it’s all about the inner confidence and how you feel about yourself, not just how you look.
So I want to explore in this podcast episode how you can build and maintain your confidence that’s not only skin deep, but rooted in who you are as a person. So let’s get into this.
First off, what exactly is health esteem? Well, it’s a term that blends the concepts of self esteem and health, physical and mental. It’s about recognizing your worth, valuing your health. and making choices that reflect that. You see, health esteem is more than just feeling good about your body. It’s about feeling good about your life, and it’s knowing that you’re taking care of yourself, that you’re doing what’s right for you, and that you’re confident in those decisions. It’s a mindset that says, I’m worth the effort and my health, inside and out, deserves to be prioritized.
In aesthetic medicine we definitely focus a lot on the external, how we look, the little tweaks that we can make, things that make us feel better about our appearance. But it’s important to remember that true confidence comes from a combination of external and internal well being. And it’s not just about what you see in the mirror. It’s about how you feel about your overall health.
So let’s talk a little bit about where aesthetic treatments come into play, because yes, I provide aesthetic treatments. When it’s done thoughtfully, with your personal goals in mind, aesthetic treatments can be a powerful tool in boosting your health esteem. I’ve seen it time and time again in my practice, patients come in for a treatment, maybe it’s Botox, maybe it’s filler, maybe it’s a combination of the two. These treatments do more than just enhance appearance, they can enhance self confidence, which in turn can impacts other areas of life.
For example, I had a patient who, after addressing some concerns with her appearance, found that she felt more confident at work. She started speaking up in her meetings more, she started taking on leadership roles, and it all began from that small boost about how she felt about herself.
The key here though is natural results. As you may know, natural results is one of my five key pillars of my practice. It’s not about changing who you are. It’s about highlighting what’s already there. And my philosophy has always been that the best treatments are the ones that enhance your natural beauty, allowing you to feel like the best version of yourself.
So we’ve covered the role of aesthetic treatments and health esteem, but let’s expand that now. And how can you build on health esteem in other areas of your life?
One major aspect is self care. It’s something that we all should do, but it often falls by the wayside when life gets busy. Whether it’s setting aside time for a workout, preparing a healthy meal, or simply taking time to relax and recharge, these little acts of self care can do wonders for your health, and specifically for your health esteem.
Another area to consider is your mental health. Are you managing stress in a healthy way? Are you taking time to connect with people who uplift you and avoid those people that may be wanting to bring you down? Mental health is just as important as the physical health and it plays a huge role in how you view yourself.
Hobbies and interests also play a huge part in building good health esteem. When you’re engaged in activities that you enjoy and that challenge you, it adds to your sense of accomplishment and your sense of self worth. Whether it’s playing a sport like hockey I’m passionate about, or creating something with your hands like I do in my workshop these activities feed into your overall wellbeing.
Finally, make sure to set some personal goals, both big and small. With these goals, sticking to a new habit or completing a project reinforces the idea that you’re capable and that you’re deserving of success.
And so, as we wrap up this brief episode, I want to leave you with this thought. Health esteem is a journey. It’s not something you achieve overnight. And it’s certainly not just about the treatments that you undergo. It’s about making choices every day that build your confidence and make you feel good about who you are, both inside and out. Remember, aesthetic treatments, it’s just one part of the puzzle. True health esteem comes from valuing yourself in every area of your life. Taking care of your body, taking care of your mind, taking care of your overall wellbeing.
So if you feel that tweaking your appearance with an aesthetic treatment may then allow you to feel more confident about yourself and make other changes in your life, similar to that example I shared earlier, then by all means, I encourage you to come on in and have a chat with me and we can talk about those treatments.
If you feel that your health esteem would be better improved by making time for a workout and leaving those treatments, then do that. I want you to do whatever is best for your health esteem and everybody is an individual, as you know.
So thanks for joining me today on Anti-Aging Insights. Until next time, it’s Dr. Fisher reminding you that sculpted confidence is crafted not just in my clinic, but in the everyday choices that you make.
Until next time, take care.
