Episode Transcript

Today is May 24, 2024, and I’m excited to share some fascinating insights from a recent study conducted by Dr. Yu and Dr. Sison at the Skin and Cancer Foundation in Pasig, Philippines.

The study, funded by Merz Aesthetics Philippines, explored the impact of nonsurgical aesthetic interventions—specifically botulinum toxin and dermal filler injections—on the well-being of gender nonconforming individuals. Six patients received these treatments and were evaluated over three months.

Notably, all patients reported high satisfaction with their results. They saw significant improvements in fine lines and wrinkles and experienced a boost in self-confidence. The facial width-to-height ratio, an indicator of gendered facial features, varied among those aiming for a feminine look, but a participant seeking a more masculine appearance saw a definite increase in this ratio.

This research highlights the crucial role that sensitivity and expertise in facial aesthetics play in meeting the unique needs of gender nonconforming individuals. It also underscores the positive mental health outcomes that can result from such personalized, noninvasive treatments.

Thank you for tuning in today. Remember, enhancing your appearance can also uplift your spirit. Stay confident!
